Yes, spray-on fabric fresheners are genius -- so why not try making your own with this economical option?

We all know the popular products on the market these days that get bad smells out of clothes and freshen up fabrics of all kinds. You can use them on your furniture, your towels, curtains, everything. They work great, getting rid of most odors so you don't have to toss the pieces in a laundry cycle. The products, however, have one flaw: If you use them as often as I do, it can get very expensive.

After reading the ingredients of the products, I saw that they contain (apart from the chemicals) certain key items. I keep those items on hand, so I began to experiment with making my own fabric freshener. After much trial and error, I discovered a formula that works as well as the expensive commercial one. In the interest of saving money for all, I am sharing that fabric freshener "recipe" with you.

1 cup of Liquid Fabric Softener (the kind you use when washing clothes)
1 cup of White Vinegar
2 cups of Water

This recipe can be doubled or tripled, depending upon how much you want to make.

1. Mix all the ingredients together, stirring well.
2. Use this spray exactly as you would the expensive commercial fabric freshener. This is safe to spray on furniture , clothes or any other fabric.

Bonus Tip: Spray some of the solution on a cloth, then toss it into your dryer to soften clothes.
